We opened on Askew Road in 2011 and have quickly become part of the fabric of this discerning corner of Shepherd’s Bush – a proper neighbourhood shop, staffed by experts who can tell you not only what you’re buying and how to cook it, but precisely which farm it came from.

This is our fifth Ginger Pig shop and Tom has been the manager here since 2019. He joined us in 2012, first working in our Hackney branch before moving to Moxon Street in Marylebone and eventually taking charge at Askew Road. He says he will ‘manage here until I retire’ – it’s his baby, and he has no intention of going anywhere any time soon.

He is joined on the fresh meat counter by Buggy, who has been with The Ginger Pig for more than fifteen years, and Rob, a newer member of the team who, although still in his first year, is already firmly part of the Ginger Pig family.

The Rotisserie

From midday, seven days a week, the rotisserie turns until the last chicken has found its way home. It is a much-loved part of our deli lunches, and a privilege shared with just one other Ginger Pig shop, in Loughton. The spit is not devoted solely to chicken. Depending on the day, you may also find pork belly, lamb shoulder or smoked beef ribs turning slowly over the heat – it’s well worth a detour to see what’s on offer. But do come early. The rotisserie has a habit of emptying quickly.
