The Ginger Pig Askew Road

Opened in October 2011, Askew Road is our newest shop but has quickly become somewhat of a flagship store. After studying at Westminster Catering college, Tom Aston came to us to learn to be a butcher and now runs the butchery side of Askew Road. He was joined in May 2012 by Gemma Giordano who is our chef, the shop general manager (and also Tom’s fiancé). Together with Dean, Steve, Andre and Michelle they make a great team.
When Ginger Pig owner Tim had an idea to source proper Limousin Veal and French poultry, it was Tom who went with him to Rungis near Paris, to hand-select produce to compliment our own meat in the shops. Tom now makes these buying trips every week, bringing back astonishingly good fresh vegetables and dairy as well as veal and poultry, keeping Tim at bay in North Yorkshire by sending him a weekly food parcel of Gemma's cooking and Tim's favourite French yoghurts.
