Welcome

The place where it all began. There are 280 acres of prime Yorkshire farmland up here, plus another 1800 of heather moorlands, owned by the North York Moors National Park, to which we have the grazing rights. This is home to both our 1500 strong flock of breeding ewes and to the all important production units where we begin the primary butchery of our own animals and dry cure our pork to make our own bacon. Sheep have been farmed on this land since Roman times and we continue that tradition to this day. It’s also where Tim Wilson lives; Tim is never far away from his animals.

Owned by the Duchy of Lancaster, 500 acre Blansby Park is the Queen’s oldest agricultural holding, dating back to the 13th Century. It is home to our 900 pigs and our flock of Dorset sheep who provide new season’s lamb. We also use 300 acres of the farm to grow barley, wheat, oats and fodderbeat almost all of which goes to feed our animals. It means we have the all-important food chain completely covered.

This is where we keep our 140 strong herd of Longhorn cattle, the largest in Britain. They are fed almost exclusively on fresh grass from our fields and finished on our own barley and a little molasses. Longhorns are the oldest domestic breed in Britain and with their mahogany and white coats and elegant curling horns, cut a striking figure up here on Yorkshire’s rolling hill land. As Tim Wilson always says, 'If you are going to raise animals you may as well raise good looking ones'.
